Velvet is the name of a silk fabric whose pile warp forms a loop or fluff on the surface of the fabric. It is a fabric made of cotton, polyester, bamboo fiber, velvet and other fiber materials. Also known as Zhang Rong, it is named after it originated in Zhangzhou, Fujian Province. It has been mass-produced in the Ming Dynasty and is one of the traditional Chinese fabrics, such as the double-sided velvet Sihe Ruyi embroidered dragon-mending women's dress unearthed in Beijing's Mingding Tomb, and the blue single-sided velvet women's dress.
The velvet fabric uses silk as the warp and cotton yarn as the weft interweaving, with silk or rayon pile loops, the warp and weft are first degummed or semi-degummed, dyed and twisted. According to different uses, different raw materials can also be used for weaving, and it can also be woven with different raw materials such as cotton, acrylic, viscose, polyester and nylon. So the velvet fabric is not really woven with velvet, but the feel and texture are as smooth and shiny as velvet. Many consumers think that velvet is a plush made from swan hair. In fact, velvet is not made of swan hair. Like other plushs, this velvet is also artificially processed plush. At present, velvet fabrics can be divided into two types: floral and plain based on the difference of patterns. Flower velvet refers to cutting part of the pile loop according to the pattern into fluff and unbroken loops to form a pattern. It is divided into two types: "bright flower" and "dark flower". Bogu, etc., textures are often expressed by bumps, and the colors are mainly black, purple sauce, apricot, blue, and brown. Plain velvet has all loops on its surface. The patterns that make up the fabric have two forms: one is velvet satin, or Zhang satin; the other is velvet satin, or velvet. Its characteristic is that there is little texture, single, double color, or embedded gold and silver thread, rich and luxurious, can be used as autumn and winter clothing or high-end sofa covers, curtains, etc.
